160,000 People Forced to Flee Homes: Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Refugees flee their homesAs the con­flict in Sri Lanka esca­lates more and more civil­ians are being forced to flee their homes in order to save their fam­i­lies and them­selves.
Tamil Tiger rebels are report­edly hid­ing amongst the civil­ians and it is rumored that at times the rebels are fir­ing high pow­ered weapons at civil­ians to make them believe the gov­ern­ment forces are fir­ing on them. It is a very vio­lent sit­u­a­tion and being dis­cribed by aid orga­ni­za­tions as noth­ing short of cat­a­stophic.
It is being reported that over 160,000 peo­ple have been forced to flee their homes and are now either wan­der­ing the wilder­ness in search of shel­ter or in crude refugee camps. These peo­ple need help des­per­ately.
