Dur­ing this time of the year when the weather cools down, many peo­ple in the US walk to raise money for hunger and poverty relief efforts. The walks are called CROP walks or Com­mu­ni­ties Respond­ing to Over­come Poverty. The par­tic­i­pants col­lect pledges based on how much they walk. Most of the money stays in the local community.
