A highly regarded poverty fight­ing pro­gram is the con­di­tional cash trans­fers from Mex­ico and the Inter-American Devel­op­ment Bank. Instead of just giv­ing money to peo­ple because they are poor, Mex­ico puts some con­di­tions on the money. The poor fam­i­lies can only col­lect if they keep their chil­dren and school and take them to the doc­tor for checkups.
